For each of the 96 discs, one at a time:

  1. Drill three holes in a circle pattern 120 degrees apart and .625" from the center, this time using a #18 bit and penetrating all the way through. Do not remove the disc from the rotary table; the next set of holes must be aligned.

    "But wouldn't center bits work better here?" "Yes, they would. But split points work well enough and are affordable to have around in all numbered and lettered sizes. Don't forget every cutting edge is a consumable."

  2. Using a 5/16" center-cutting endmill, plunge a .125" deep square 'countersink' into the same locations as the holes just drilled with the #18 bit.
